Sales of any typeSubmitted by Sunbeams on Tue, 2006-09-05 14:43.
I never thought I could sell anything. I was always shying away from any type of sales opportunities. But it actually became a very rewarding type of career for a time for me. The reasons may surprise you. A majority of people on this planet like to help others in some way during their lives, and a sales job done right with the right product can be a big help to people, therefore the satisfaction and rewards. I first of all, have to intensely believe in the product I am selling. I have to love it. It must be an ethical and quality product, not a scam or a poor example for a quick buck. Second, I have to care about the person's welfare that I am selling it to. Truly care, and it must be heartfelt. It is a point that many sales people must work on. You can't view a prospect as a meal ticket. Third, most people start out with sales resistance at the beginning of any sale, so an important point is to be insistent without being pushy. The reasons why the person needs and wants this product or service must be gone over from different angles and approaches. No is not a part of the vocabulary if you really believe the person will benefit from the product. You have to believe they will truly live better after acquiring the product. Fourth, don't burn your bridges if the person ultimately doesn't buy the product or service. Be polite and ask to contact them in the future should they find a need for the product. Also ask for any other people to whom you can speak to about the product in thier circle of influence. |
