Passion for Fashion

I am not particularly a fan of reality TV. But I do enjoy two competitive shows – The Apprentice and you guessed it - Project Runway. As soon as I caught a glance of a single episode, I was hooked. What can I say? It is fun to watch a group of highly creative and talented people competing to be the top designer. Each week, they are given an outlandish assignment along with unexpected surprises.

Aside from its theatrical back-stabbing, catfights, jealousy and rivalry, the candidates often display their extraordinary will power and mental agility.

In this high pressure cooker, the competitors have to:

  • Think fast
  • Think strategically
  • Have a vision
  • Concentrate and focus (despite the noises and interruptions)
  • Execute with precision
  • Endure hardship
  • Believe in themselves
  • Deliver the best result on time and on budget

All that boils down to determination and passion. Time and time again, a candidate expresses how much they are committed to becoming the top designer, whatever it takes. They are willing to sacrifice everything to achieve their goal.

I am glad I’ve got a reality check of the fashion world…
