Got Spam?

There are many surprises in life. I for one love surprises. But, when I discovered someone had posted a whole bunch of repetitious promotional messages on NewLadderToSuccess, my feeling was far from “joyous.”

Although, I had a few ideas about “spamming”, but I decided to learn everything about this nasty 8-letter word. Thank goodness that we live in the information age, just a few key strokes and clicks – Whoa-lah!  There it is, the definition of spamming –-

Spamming in an internet forum is when a user posts a message that is off-topic, has little relevance to the subject being discussed, or is a post that fails to contribute to the thread. Lastly, there is also the case where a person posts messages solely for the purpose of increasing his forum ranking. Any web application that accepts and displays hyperlinks submitted by visitors may be a target.

Okay, I understand the motive behind such vile act, but still I cannot condone these unfriendly tactics.  I always consider the Internet as one big community. We are all connected in some ways like neighbors.  Will you show up to your neighbor’s place uninvited and rudely throw your junks everywhere? All of us would say, “Of course not!”  These types of spammings are exactly like what I just described.

It’s polite to treat others with respect.  Because without it, our (Internet) world can never be a better place.
