Unreasonable joy and happiness came to me on an ordinary day, an unremarkable day, when I was playing poker. The clatter of chips and the shuffling of cards played background music to the conversation of the players. Now and then, the dealer would call “Seat open!” and a floorman would escort another player to a table. The nine players at my table were all sizes, shapes, and colors. Some were Asian, some Persian, some black, some white-bread American like me. We were all enjoying the game, taking turns winning a pot, whining a little when we got beat.

When someone tries to ruffle your feathers, the best way to handle the situation is to stay cool.

Oh, really? Unless you are made out of metal, anybody consists of flesh and blood can react emotionally and irrationally. I know. I know. We shouldn’t take matters personally. But tell me, since when we can slip off our human body and put on the physique of a zombie?

There are many surprises in life. I for one love surprises. But, when I discovered someone had posted a whole bunch of repetitious promotional messages on NewLadderToSuccess, my feeling was far from “joyous.”

I am not particularly a fan of reality TV. But I do enjoy two competitive shows – The Apprentice and you guessed it - Project Runway. As soon as I caught a glance of a single episode, I was hooked. What can I say? It is fun to watch a group of highly creative and talented people competing to be the top designer. Each week, they are given an outlandish assignment along with unexpected surprises.
